Hello and welcome to Truman State University NORML & SSDP on the web. We are a collection of Truman students from various backgrounds who are united in our promotion of a more sensible drug policy in the United States. We are a single organization on Truman's campus, however we locally represent two large national organizations; NORML- the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, and SSDP- Students for Sensible Drug Policy.
We approach drug issues from a number of perspectives. We try to raise awareness by holding events throughout the semester and having informational materials and tables on campus, we contact our state and national legislators with regard to important policy issues, and generally try to act in a fair and sensible manner.
We currently have two faculty advisors. Dr. John Rutter, Ph.D. is at present an associate professor of biology here at Truman. His research interests are primarily with the central nervous system and its numerous interactions. You can read more detailed research interests here. He also plays music in a local band which frequently supports TSU NORML events. Mark Spitzer is an Assistant Professor of English at Truman State, and is also a published author. His website can be viewed here.
If you have any questions regarding our organization, please feel free to email us with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for visiting; we encourage you to browse both our site and those on our "Links" page. We also encourage you to read the arguments and materials in opposition to our cause. We strongly believe that after a careful, honest and objective consideration of the arguments that our cause is a good one. Find out for yourself.
